ALL ABOUT OUR CLUB

The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Scotland received Kennel Club recognition in 1987 after a number of years having run fun and educational events.

Since the formation of the Club we have had only three secretaries and a very stable committee (after more than 25 years we still have Founder Members of the Club serving on the committee).

Over the years we have promoted Bernese welfare in Scotland through the Club shows, seminars and our Club Magazine. We also support other clubs and dog welfare organisations through Club donations.

The Club has organised and managed Bernese Rescue in Scotland over the years and to date we have been very fortunate to work alongside other Bernese and dog rescue organisations.

Our annual events include an Open Show and Christmas Party but our main event is the Championship Show weekend held at Kelso in the Scottish Borders.   The venue provides caravan and camping facilities (with all mod cons) and consists of the Championship Show on the Saturday.

On the Sunday we hold a Companion Dog Show and fun events plus obedience, a working cart course, a decorated cart competition and lots of fun for all. Carter's from all over the UK play a vital role in the proceedings on both days and throughout the weekend we are entertained by our resident Scottish piper Murray.

All of this makes it an event not to be missed .......

One year we had a visit from the Kennel Club's Field Officer and apart from giving the show an excellent report one of her memorable comments were "This is not just a show this is an event to be proud of."

Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy any of our Club events and activities - you don't need to be a member of our Club but you will soon want to be one!!
